The Shoebox. A place for lil' apps to live in peace and harmony.

Breakthrough is a strategy game where the objective is to move one of your pawns to the far side of the board before your opponent can.

I wrote this ShoesFest, it’s based on my vying library which supports a number of other games. This library is the foundation of Vying Games.

You can read about Breakthrough at Vying Games if you’d like to learn more.

Okay, after a little bit of testing, this works great on Linux against the latest Shoes.

It gets hung loading gems in Windows.

And, I couldn’t get Shoes to run at all on osx, powerpc. But, from what I understand it doesn’t work there either.

I’m guessing we’ll have to wait for newer Shoes…

I just updated to the newest mac build and it now gets hung loading gems (intel, tiger) so at least that was better than before :)

I could get Breakthrough 0.5.1 to load gems on Windows Vista. But, the game isn’t being redrawn correctly. Hitting ALT-D (redraws the board) shows that the app is working otherwise, though.

Nice game!

Worked fine on Ubuntu 8.04 after I deactivated compiz+emerald.

With those activated, it crashed:

Thanks for the kind words Jaime! : ))

Afraid I have no clue about that compiz/emerald crash…

How do I use this?
